Stop Playing Hide and Seek

Some people think God loves to play hide-and-seek. The reality shows us that He seeks and we hide. It’s our game, not His. He’s not hard to find. He promises that if we seek, Him, He will be found. So then, who’s the game player?

We enjoy this Christmas season because it celebrates the great joy of God’s plan to open the way for us to join in fellowship with Him. He told us ahead of time that He would send a savior. He did.

Hide and Seek Solved in the Nativity

“And, unto us is born this day in the City of David…”

The child’s name in the Greek language is Jesus, in Hebrew it’s Yeshua, and in Aramaic it’s Joshua. The name says he came to be our salvation. This singular personality fills the role and is also called Emmanuel, which means God with us.

A few years after the fact, one of his closest friends said it this way in describing Jesus:  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”

We celebrate the birth of the one sent to save us at Christmas time. In a few months we will celebrate in a different way. At Easter we will celebrate the resurrection of the crucified savior and the promise through Him that we do indeed have eternal life open to us.

Embrace the coming of the child and enjoy the celebration. Better yet, stop hiding. Come into the relationship with God that makes every day different. He cares for you. Use this celebration to enjoy the love He has for you right now.
